WINTER ROOM

 

What could have been icy shiver in the venue turned warm and cozy with excitement.  Twenty six attendees graced Saturday night's AKBAY Fundraising Dinner at Luxent Hotel in Timog Avenue, Quezon City.

Who would think of food?  Sumptuous as the buffet spread, greetings and photos preceded cravings.

Music was a given in the company of seasoned singers.  Impromptu not a problem with Jerico Matawaran, Pynkz Saret, Alice Lardizabal-Fernandez, Jazmin Sison.  Even media couple Mariz and Raffy Tima rendered unrehearsed duet.  Melvin Sumalinog who provided guitar accompaniment set the mood as guests arrived.

With the programme highlighting the vision and redirection of AKBAY,  a separate article is merited for detailed discourse of the choir's plans and activities.  Group website was also introduced and explained.  Capping the ceremony was the launch of the official AKBAY logo.  Token mugs were set on tables for the taking.

Someone's absence was deeply felt.  Someone humble, jovial and talented.  To the late Oscar (Jojo) Sauro Galigo Jr., his relentless efforts were not in vain with the incumbent leadership.

Befitting the occasion were inspirational tributes given by Tonette Mendoza-Oblena and Mariz Umali-Tima. What it was to be in AKBAY, what it means now in their personal and professional lives, what it will be in the future.  Cliche but "Once an AKBAY, Always an AKBAY" befits the motto.

More than a fundraising event, a reunion bound by music and service to the Sacred Heart Parish.

What should have ended by midnight continued in the Lobby Lounge.  Not enough time for bonding and reminiscing.
